Ecumenical Week in Stockholm, 18-24 August 2025

During the Ecumenical Week in Stockholm we commemorated the 100th anniversary of the Ecumenical Conference in Stockholm of 1925 that became a significant beginning for the modern ecumenical movement. We celebrated ecumenism, peace and fellowhip organizing more than 70 seminars, a worship service on Friday night, and a festive service on Saturday evening with invited international church leaders and guests, as well as the participation from the Royal Family and the Prime Minister.

During the weekend we also gathered young adults for a festival, and invited children, youth and seniors to a public celebration in Kungsträdgården.

If you missed the opportunity to join, you can see some of the highlights via the link below.

About the Christian Council of Sweden

All churches have their own identity and priorities. However, faith can also lead to unity and challenge. This is where the Christian Council of Sweden, representing 6 million Swedes, is an important actor.

The Christian Council of Sweden – Churches together – in Faith and Action – has 27 member churches and three observing members. They reflect the various Christian traditions in our country. The churches meet within the Christian Council to share experiences and coordinate joint projects. All churches have their own identity and priorities. However, faith can also unite and challenge.

Churches together – in Faith and Action

Ecumenism is when churches discuss, cooperate and seek unity. Ecumenism is derived from the Greek word “oikomene”, which means “the whole inhabited earth”.
