Code of Conduct | Ecumenical Week in Stockholm
The Ecumenical Week in Stockholm is meant to be a safe and inclusive meeting place for everyone participating. The code of conduct has been decided by the Cristian Council of Sweden. It applies to visitors, organizers, participants and guest and is valid for all activities and at all locations during the Ecumenical Week in Stockholm.
Contact the Safety Team for the Ecumenical Week
- at 076-788 68 07 by sending a text message or leaving a voicemail
- or by emailing complaint@skr.org.
Everyone that participates in the Ecumenical Week is expected to comply with Swedish legislation, and to adhere to the code of conduct and its principles.
In this document you will also learn how to report if you or someone else has been subjected to any of the behaviors that the code of conduct aims to prevent.
Attitude
Jesus teaches that we should love our neighbor as ourselves. This means that we should not only love and care for those who are like us or share our opinions but also for those who are different.
We who participate in the ecumenical week are different and may have various beliefs and life views. You are expected to treat others with respect and an open mind, even if someone is different from yourself, for example regarding religion or other beliefs, ethnicity, gender, gender identity or expression, disability, marital status, religion, socioeconomic status, sexual orientation, or age.
You are expected to support human rights and inclusion for everyone, without discrimination.
Harassment and Assault
Every person is created in the image of God and has a unique value. Violating someone’s integrity goes against the Christian view of the human.
Harassment, bullying, or sexual assault is unacceptable and will be addressed. This includes everything from bullying, unwelcome sexual insinuations, and offensive pictures to unwelcome advances, groping, or any form of physical or sexual violence. If there is suspicion of a crime, the incident will be reported to the police.
You are expected to respect everyone’s personal boundaries and to distance yourself from any form of humiliation, intimidation, coercion, as well as psychological or physical abuse of others.
Purchase of sexual acts through the exchange of money, employment, goods, or services is unacceptable and is also prohibited by Swedish law. According to Swedish law, all sexual activity with a child under the age of 15 is considered rape.
Drugs
For everyone’s safety, the meeting must be free from narcotics or drug-like substances.
It is not allowed to consume narcotics or drug-like substances during the meeting, nor to offer this to anyone else. It is also not permitted to drive a vehicle under the influence of alcohol or other substances.
If you have been subjected to something
Your body is yours. You are worthy of respect. What has happened to you is not acceptable. You are the one who decides if what happened to you was unwelcome, uncomfortable, or frightening.
If you or someone else has been subjected to something that violates this code of conduct during the meeting, there is support and help available to move forward.
Report to the Safety Team for Ecumenical Week
If something has happened, you can report it to the Ecumenical Week’s Safety Team, which receives and handles reports of violations of this code of conduct during the meeting.
You can report in one of the following ways:
- Send an email to the address complaint@skr.org. Briefly describe what happened and provide your name and contact details if you would like to be contacted by the Safety Team.
- Send a text or voice message to 076-788 68 07. Briefly describe what happened and provide your name and contact details if you would like to be contacted by the Safety Team.
- Speak with a staff member and tell them what you have experienced or noticed. Describe what happened and provide your name and contact information if you would like to be contacted by the Safety Team. That person will then immediately report this to the Safety Team.
What you report will be handled with care and confidentiality. If you wish to be contacted and give the Safety Team the opportunity to proceed with the matter, you need to provide your name and contact details. You will then be contacted during day time for a conversation about what will happen next with your report.
The Christian Council of Sweden, as the organizer, is responsible for following up on what has occurred and, to the best of their ability, preventing further violations.
